Great article Ann. I agree that you need to pay for news to support the operations that make it possible. I subscribe to both local, national and international news. (I live in Australia).

I love that Medium surfaced your article to me. I love reading about paywalls and their introduction to the wider news consuming public. I think they are very important for the long term survival of many news organisations but I fear everyday people still scoff at the thought of ponying up.

May I also recommend Showtime’s (in the US) “The Fourth Estate”. It’s a four part documentary series that looks at The New York Times’ newsroom in the age of Trump. Very interesting for a journalist or aspiring media wonk anywhere in the world.
